“Ingenious Woodwork - Macao Religious Figure Carving”, an exhibition organised by the Macao Museum, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government, opened yesterday, 4th December, in the Macao Museum at 6:00pm in the presence of Zhang Xiaoguang, Head of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao S.A.R.; Heidi Ho, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; Tian Qing, Deputy Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre of the Arts Academy of China; Tsang Tak Hang, owner of the Tai Cheong Wood Engraving Co.; and Chan Ieng Hin, Director of the Macao Museum.

Exhibition of Macao Religious Figure Carving Opens at Macao Museum : A Step Forward in Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection |

Ingenious Woodwork - Macao Religious Figure Carving, an exhibition organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government and the Macao Museum, will have its opening ceremony in the Macao Museum at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, 4th December 2008. The exhibition will be open to the public from 5th December 2008 to 5th April 2009. It is hoped that this exhibition will disseminate the message of Intangible Cultural Heritage protection to as wide an audience as possible.

| General Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage: IC Attended First General Assembly of States Parties |

The General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held its first meeting from June 27 to 29 at UNESCO’s office in Paris with the participant of member states. Zhang Xinsheng, Vice-Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China, attended the meeting with his delegation and gave a speech during the opening ceremony. Macao S.A.R. Government, an associate member of UNESCO, also attended the meeting as an observer, represented by Heidi Ho, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and Leung Hio Ming, Dean of the Macao Conservatory.

Plaque Unveiling Ceremony for Commander Ye’s Old Home Ye Ting’s descendents revealed their unforgettable years in Macao |

Ye Ting (September 10, 1896 – April 8, 1946) was one of the founders of the National Revolutionary Army and an independent regiment commander in the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. To commemorate Ye Ting’s 110th birthday and the 60th anniversary of his death, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government held a plaque unveiling ceremony in his old home (Rua Almirante Costa Cabral, no. 76) yesterday morning. Macao S.A.R. Government Chief Executive Mr. Edmond Ho officiated the ceremony, unveiling a plague with inscriptions by Mr. Ma Man Kei, Vice-chairman of the People's Political Consultative Conference of China.
